Mehmet Baran Ökten, a graduate student in Physics at Sabancı University's Graduate School of Engineering and Natural Sciences, achieved a great success by being awarded the "APS Distinguished Student Prize" and the "Graduate Research Excellence Award" at the APS Global Physics Summit held in Colorado, USA.
The American Physical Society (APS) Global Physics Summit, the world's largest physics congress, held in Denver, Colorado, from March 15 to 20, 2026, brought together over 16,000 scientists.
Sabancı University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences faculty member Alhun Aydın and his student Mehmet Baran Ökten participated in the summit and gave presentations in different sessions. Alhun Aydın presented his work titled "Measure-invariant Parameter Paths for Quantum Control of Many-body Systems." Mehmet Baran Ökten gave a presentation titled "Shape-Controlled Current Asymmetry: The Interplay of Classical and Quantum Forces." At the summit, Ökten achieved remarkable success by winning the “APS Distinguished Student Prize” and the “Graduate Research Excellence Award”.
